My stay at this resort was quite a mix. While the location was undeniably beautiful and peaceful, the room left much to be desired and definitely felt outdated. The staff did their best despite some obvious operational shortcomings. Overall, if you appreciate nature and don't mind a throwback feel, it might work for you, but expect to compromise on some comforts.

Rooms

The room was clean but definitely felt like a throwback to the 60s and 70s, lacking modern amenities and comfort.
Service

Service was efficient, but there seemed to be some staffing issues that affected the overall experience.

I had a mixed experience at Shanty Creek Resorts. The location is absolutely stunning, right near Schuss Mountain with spectacular views. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful throughout my stay. However, the lodge felt a bit outdated, and the dining options were quite lacking during my conference. Overall, while it's a nice spot for rustic charm, it might not meet expectations if you're looking for something more modern and higher quality.

I had high hopes for my stay, given the fantastic location close to skiing and beautiful Lake Bellair. The views were great, but unfortunately, the room condition was quite disappointing, showing clear signs of neglect and wear. The staff were friendly and helpful, which was a plus, but the outdated amenities and cleanliness issues really detracted from the overall experience.

Rooms

The unit was outdated and not well-maintained, with loose fixtures and some mold in the bathroom. It didn't feel clean enough to fully relax.
Service

Dining
5.0
I had a disappointing experience with the dining options, as the quality was quite low and the same food was offered daily.

Facilities were lacking; the outdated kitchen supplies made it hard to feel at home, especially compared to other resorts I've visited.

6.8/10

I recently stayed at this resort for a ski trip, and while there were some positives, I found some areas that could use improvement. The views of Lake Bellaire from the property are stunning, and the rooms were mostly clean and comfortable. However, the dining experience was lacking, with limited options and mediocre food quality. Additionally, the location has its quirks, being a bit tricky to navigate at times, but overall, it offers a good experience if you're not too picky.

Rooms
6.0
While the rooms were mostly clean and comfortable, I started in an outdated basement space before moving to a somewhat better room in the hotel building. That one had its issues too, as it didn't feel very modern.
Service
9.0
Service was very helpful and friendly, especially from the shuttle driver and staff at the bar.
Location
7.0
The location provided great views, but navigating the winding backcountry roads could be confusing at times.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience fell short, with meals lacking variety and quality. The breakfast options didn't offer much either.
Facilities
7.0
Facilities were decent, with a small bar and a workout area, but some updates would definitely enhance the overall experience.
